June Luncheon: Marketing Flights to TYS
June 14 @ 11:30 am - 1:00 pm
Are you feeling up in the air lately about the aviation industry? Join us for a fun, informative lunch on Wednesday, June 14, with Jim Evans, Vice President, Marketing & Air Service Development, Metropolitan Knoxville Airport Authority. Jim will touch on attracting additional flights to TYS and discuss the progress made via local efforts to bring Southwest Airlines to the East Tennessee aviation market. We’ll also catch up on what is happening within Metropolitan Knoxville Airport Authority to stay ahead of business and tourism travel needs.
Our homegrown airport is two years into its massive six-year runway modernization project.
The runway project will go a long way in enhancing efforts by the Airport Authority to bring in new carriers, namely Southwest, and to expand service by current carriers. A new taxiway system will comply with the latest FAA standards and will yield significant fuel savings for airlines servicing McGhee Tyson.
From free Wi-Fi to view-facing rocking chairs, the stone from nearby Crab Orchard and the stream that evokes the Smoky Mountains, McGhee Tyson Airport lays out a gracious welcome mat for air travelers to and from East Tennessee. Its modernization will benefit local businesses as they compete in a global economy, as well as heightening the appeal to new companies to relocate to or expand in East Tennessee, according to regional economic development officials. Come have lunch and get in the know on TYS!
